I used to have this little manicure set with DKNY brand which came in this cute metal case. I paid maybe $20 for it at Macy's about 4 years ago. However, when I moved I got rid of it because it got old and gross and the box was starting to rust.
A couple of weekends ago I went to Macy's and looked for a replacement, and they didn't have anything except this very cheesy set branded Donald J. Trump and it was all fake gold plated. Price $35. I walked around the mall and landed in Nordstrom and they had a beautiful manicure set which was $149 and came in beautiful leather pouch. These were the most beautiful, highest tech nail clippers I have ever seen, and were made out of nickel, and were very thin and looked extremely sturdy. Imported from Italy or some place like that. I came very close to buying them but didn't because I thought about it and realized it just didn't make sense. Then I went to Walgreens and bought Revlon nail clippers for $3.02, including tax.
Then last weekend I went to Macy's again and encountered a very cool manicure set in a big wooden case, from Nautica. It was beautiful, and the label on the box said $40, but the sign on the display rack said $20. I brought it to the service center and a very friendly sales woman went on and on about how it was such a nice wooden box, and how men's stuff always comes in cool and useful cases. It rang up only $7.03 including tax. This is why I love replacing old stuff with new stuff. Now I have a newer, nicer, cleaner, higher quality, more beautiful thing than I did before, and it cost less than what then I'm replacing did in the first place. Yes, it was Made in China.
